چکیده

Introduction Papillary muscle involvement in acute myocardial infarction (MI) may be associated with new-onset mitral regurgitation and ventricular arrhythmias. Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging can detect and quantify myocardial scar. The detection of papillary muscle involvement however may be challenged by difficulties discriminating the affected muscle from the bright blood signal.

Relationship between Late Gadolinium Enhancement Extent in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Severity of Coronary Artery Disease in Old Myocardial Infarction

Purpose: To assess the relationship between the severity of coronary arteries involvement and the extent and pattern of myocardial scars in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance of patients with history of remote myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: The Cardiac Magnetic Resonance images of sixty patients with history of remote ST segment or non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction were ...

Equivalence of conventional and fast late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) techniques for quantitative evaluation of fibrosis in ischemic and non-ischemic cardiac disease - Save the Time!

Methods Patients with myocardial infarction (n = 45), myocarditis (n = 25) or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) (n = 15) were prospectively enrolled. After administration of gadolinium contrast agent, LGE images were acquired ECG-gated in short axis slices (slice thickness 7 mm, no gap) using 4 different LGE sequences: (1) conventional segmented 2D phase-sensitive inversion recovery in single-s...

Assessment of myocardial infarction in mice by Late Gadolinium Enhancement MR imaging using an inversion recovery pulse sequence at 9.4T

PURPOSE To demonstrate the feasibility of using an inversion recovery pulse sequence and to define the optimal inversion time (TI) to assess myocardial infarction in mice by late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) MRI at 9.4T, and to obtain the maximal contrast between the infarcted and the viable myocardium. METHODS MRI was performed at 9.4T in mice, two days after induction of myocardial infarcti...

Improved inversion time (TI) scout sequence for late gadolinium enhancement MRI of patients with implantable cardiac devices

Background Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) cardiac MRI is the clinical gold standard for non-invasive characterization of myocardial scar [1]. The LGE technique is a contrast enhanced inversion recovery (IR) FLASH sequence, and requires a priori knowledge of the initial inversion time (TI) to produce optimal contrast between healthy myocardium and scar substrate. The TI is typically assessed ...

Impact of Primary Coronary Angioplasty Delay on Myocardial Salvage, Infarct Size, and Microvascular Damage in Patients With ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction

Methods Seventy patients with STEMI successfully treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention within 12 h from symptom onset underwent CMR 3 2 days after hospital admission. Patients were subcategorized into 4 time-to-reperfusion (symptom onset to balloon) quartiles: 90 min (group I, n 19), 90 to 150 min (group II, n 17), 150 to 360 min (group III, n 17), and 360 min (group IV, n 17)...
